East Kwara’ae – School leaders and lead teachers from Cluster 5 in East Malaita have successfully completed their professional development training at Faumamanu Community High School a few weeks ago.
The three-day training program was conducted by Cognition Education Solomon in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD). The primary objective of this training was to enhance effective teaching and promote quality learning.
At the conclusion of the training, teacher John Alasina, speaking on behalf of the attending educators, emphasized the significance of the program, stating, “This training has truly been an eye-opener for all of us teachers who participated. It serves as a valuable reminder to prioritize strategies that ensure our students thoroughly grasp the lessons delivered by the teachers.”
Mr. Alasina further highlighted the importance of implementing the acquired knowledge and skills in their classrooms. He expressed his gratitude by saying, “I must extend my heartfelt appreciation to the facilitators and the program’s funders.”
Andrew Adai, the Principal Education Officer for the Eastern Region, also expressed his satisfaction, saying, “Indeed, my heart is filled with joy. This type of training is a substantial asset for you teachers. I encourage you to return to your classrooms and apply what you’ve learned during your lessons. Take this step, and you’ll see positive results soon.”
Jeremy Igita, one of the facilitators, shared his hope that teachers would put their newly acquired skills and knowledge into practice. He urged them by saying, “We’ve done our part, and now it’s your turn to apply these methods in your classrooms to ensure that your students understand the material. Your primary duty as teachers is to ensure that your students comprehend the content you teach.”
The program’s facilitators included Jeremy Igita and Aureen Maetia from Cognition Education Solomon Islands, Wilson Aumanu from the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, and Andrew Adai from Malaita Education.
Teachers from various schools, including Namoia, Lagefasu, Damascus, Nazareth, Faumamanu Community School, Alafe, Tabaakwaru, and Anofiu, attended the training program.
