Auki town has been alive with the unique sounds of artists and musicians over the past few days. Various artists, cultural groups, and bands have come together to perform, bringing smiles to the faces of everyone who attended.

During the last three days, both emerging and established bands showcased their talents. One of the standout performances was by the Royal Priest band, a group that first formed in 2000 and has continued their musical journey ever since.

Speaking to Malaita News yesterday, the band’s leader, Solomon Alufooa, expressed his happiness about the band’s return to the stage. “As the founder and leader of this group, I am truly grateful for this opportunity to join other brothers and sisters in celebrating this day through music,” Mr. Alufooa said.

He went on to acknowledge the challenges they have faced over the years but emphasized their commitment to their goals. “We have come a long way, and despite the challenges in the music industry, we remain focused on our mission.”

Royal Priest was established with the purpose of advocating for issues affecting young people in the nation. “We use music as a platform to empower the youth,” Mr. Alufooa explained. “There are many ways to address the issues we face in this country, and music is one of them. That’s why Royal Priest is committed to this cause.”

Looking ahead, the group aims to expand their reach beyond the local scene. “Yes, our songs are loved by our own people, but our focus now is to create music that resonates outside of our borders and gains recognition internationally.”

Mr. Alufooa also mentioned the importance of empowering their band members. “We need to equip our members with the necessary tools. We’ve purchased instruments and provided them to our members to help them practice and enhance their skills.”

Mr. Alufooa expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee of the mini trade show for their initiative, which brought Malaitan artists and bands together to perform in Auki.
